Renewable Energy
Solar. Wind. Hydro. Geothermal. What more could you ask for? (Okay, maybe some nuclear? It's expensive though!)
Renewable energy and electricity is such a critical part of envisioning the future for our cities. It also ties in with every other type of concept we talk about here at the YIMBY shop. In order to make communities more resilient, we need better investments in alternative modes of transportation - trains, buses, e-bikes, scooters, electric wheelchairs, etc. - which all require some sort of external electricity. Why would we want to get that electricity from polluting sources such as oil, natural gas (methane), or coal? We don't. We want it from clean sources. Clean sources that don't add smog/pollution to our air to transport us to where we need to go.
There really isn't all that much more to say here; renewable energy is quickly becoming the go-to for all kinds of communities across the world - is your community leading the pack?
